Mr. Fixer Upper is an enemy to lovers trope and I just loved this. This was done in a typical Lucy Score fashion, where the guy is sexy, handy, and the right amount of dirty. This is Paige and Gannon’s story.

I just adored the constant battle on set between sexy home renovation reality star grumpy Gannon and his no-nonsense field producer, Paige. Paige has zero time for temperamental talent. Gannon acts like he hates being in the spot light, which Paige doesn’t understand. Gannon’s twin sister Cat is also on the show with Gannon and she is the opposite of him in most ways.

Mr. Sex in a Toolbelt has made it his mission in life to get a rise out of her, but Paige is a master at locking down her temper. They’re on the road together working long hours fixing houses and changing lives. Paige starts to let Gannon bother her legendary coolness start to show and sparks fly. Gannon is infatuated and the cameras are there to capture it. I just loved this part of the story.

But he’s fallen for pretty packages before and Paige won’t be taken seriously if she’s caught sleeping with the star of her show. She also can’t seem to resist those big, rough hands. Those smoldery hazel eyes. The dimples. The toolbelt. That fiercely protective vibe. The story really highlights how males and females are treated differently behind the scenes and how she has to work twice as hard to be taken seriously. When Gannon recognizes how hard she works, he works hard to get her attention. I really liked, but disliked, the Meeghan Traxx character they threw in there. It did ratchet up the tension.

This book filled my enemies to lovers trope needs! And trigger warnings>>>this does have some SPICEY scenes in it! (Which is why the original cover is more fitting for this book – LOL) I liked the character dynamics. Gannon’s twin being involved who was a female twin and also in the construction side of the business made me smile and cheer for girl power! And his grumpy and her sunshine was just what I needed. The journey to their HEA was interesting and fun.

  1. Well, I liked this book, but only enough to give it 3.5 stars. I hold Lucy Score on a very high pedestal and I thought she fell short on this one. It was good, just not her best. I felt like I was missing so much in-between moments. Paige was really frustrating to read when it came to Gannon. She really had zero faith in him, even though she knew exactly how manipulative and underhanded the network she worked for was. That was probably my #1 issue. She didn’t trust that they were worth standing up and fighting for. And then went on to deny and basically belittled both of their very real feelings. If anyone needed fixing up, it wasn’t him, it was her. It should be titled “Ms. Fixer Upper”.
