This was such an interesting (and honestly hard-to-categorize) read. Mystery? Thriller? Drama? A little bit of everything?

We picked this one for book club, and it definitely delivered when it came to discussion…especially that ending. Everyone had slightly different interpretations, which made it even more fun to talk about.

The story follows podcast hosts Benny and Joy, whose entire brand is built on telling wild survival stories with humor and heart. But when Joy and her husband Xander suddenly disappear, Benny finds himself at the center of the mystery…and under suspicion.

From the start, I kept asking myself: what is actually going on here? The premise is so intriguing, and the tension builds as you try to piece together what happened. That said, the execution can feel a bit confusing at times. There are quite a few characters, and I actually had to write some of their names down just to keep everything straight. This is definitely a book where you need to pay attention to the details.

I listened to the audiobook and would absolutely recommend that format—it helped bring the story to life and made it easier to stay engaged with the shifting perspectives.

One element that really stood out to me was Joy’s experience with narcolepsy. I genuinely cannot imagine living with that, especially in some of the situations she found herself in. It added a unique and emotional layer to the story—and it’s actually how she and Benny first connected, which I thought was really well done.

And I have to mention the Happy Days references—such a nostalgic touch! If you grew up knowing Happy Days and love a good “Ayyy!” from Fonzie, those moments will definitely make you smile.

Overall, this is a thought-provoking read with a unique premise and plenty to unpack. It might not be the easiest story to follow at times, but if you enjoy books that keep you guessing and spark conversation, this one is worth picking up.
