Even though this is the prequel to Devine Rivals, this could be a complete standalone. I genuinely do not have words. This is one of the best books I’ve read all year and without at doubt one of my new favorite books ever. This was the type of book that brought tears to my eyes simply because of how heartbreakingly beautiful it was. The writing, the prose, I wanted to inject each and every word into my veins. I didn’t want to leave this book, it made me feel every emotion under the sun and the amount of tears I shed in the end?! My goodness how lucky are we that words on paper can make us feel so much?????
Five incredible stars for this one! The romance was so stunning. It was the perfect slow burn, it built up so well, and it had this curiosity to it like you wanted to know more because of the nature of the relationship and the way it was unravelling, and how it took place was so beautiful. Vincent and Matilda were so perfect for each other, so willing to sacrifice everything for each other. Even though the romance was not the main plot, it was still explored really well!! Also, star-crossed lovers never flop.
