Oh, this book! What an emotional journey, but in the very best way! Sarah Morgan delivered such a heartwarming Christmas story filled with friendship, self-discovery, second chances, and a beautiful message about opening your heart to others.
When a massive snowstorm sends two cars crashing into the stone wall surrounding Mabel Miller’s secluded cottage, her plans for a quiet, Christmas-free holiday go right out the window. Suddenly, this reclusive author finds herself sharing her home with a family of four and two coworkers who clearly have some unresolved history. What follows is a Christmas none of them expected, but perhaps exactly the one they all needed.
I absolutely loved the snowed-in setting! There was something so perfect about having all these characters stuck together in Mabel’s idyllic home, where they were forced to slow down, face some uncomfortable truths, and be honest with one another—and themselves. Every character went through a transformation or a little self-discovery of sorts, and I loved watching those changes unfold. Even the moments of tension felt more heartwarming than uncomfortable because you couldn’t help but root for everyone.
And all those little discoveries along the way! I loved how the story slowly revealed the characters’ secrets, struggles, and connections. There were some truly heart-wrenching moments, and I may have teared up a time or two. Honestly, I think anyone who picks this one up should be prepared to shed at least a small tear!
What I loved most, though, was the inspirational message woven throughout the story. It’s about forgiveness, letting go of the past, finding unexpected connections, and realizing that sometimes the people who come crashing into our lives are exactly the people we need.
This one completely put me in the Christmas spirit and left me with that warm, fuzzy feeling that maybe people really are better than we sometimes give them credit for. And isn’t that exactly how a good Christmas story should make you feel?
If you’re looking for a cozy, emotional, feel-good Christmas read with wonderful characters and a whole lot of heart, The Best Christmas Ever is definitely one to add to your holiday reading list!
