“There are people you meet that you get to know, and then there are people you meet that you already know.”
Confess is a romance book with some suspense added in as well. Two young people, Auburn and Owen, meet by chance. Some may call it fate, if you believe in fate. Both are trying to keep their past a secret and not sure if they want to come forward with it, but there is no denying their feelings that are starting between them. As their pasts come to light, the two need to make decisions that can affect their future, even if that means ignoring their feelings.
I found this book to be quite the page turner because I kept wanting to know more and more about their past as it slowing comes to light. Each of the charters were very easy to love and Colleen Hoover really knows how to add in the suspense and heart break to really keep you engaged and wanting more. Auburn and Owen are very young and it hurts to think what they both go through at such a young age. That’s why it is so warming when they meet. For the first time in years, they each feel as if they’ve found someone who can truly understand them.
Confess is a story about finding hope when it seems like the hardest thing to find. There’s so much more to this story and the characters than meets the eye. This book is a contemporary romance novel but it’s also a heart-wrenching story of survival, courage, hope and unexpected odds.
I gave this book a three star review due to the moral ambiguity. Confess contains scenes portraying addiction, sexual assault, and domestic violence. It is a beautiful and devastating story that will make you feel so much, though I would have preferred that certain confessions were released than being kept silent, but I urge to you read the book and decide for yourself!
