“And tell Rowan,” Aelin said, fighting her own sob, “that I’m sorry I lied. But tell him it was all borrowed time anyway. Even before today, I knew it was all just borrowed time, but I still wish we’d had more of it.” She fought past her trembling mouth. “Tell him he has to fight. He must save Terrasen, and remember the vows he made to me. And tell him . . . tell him thank you—for walking that dark path with me back to the light.”
Kingdoms collide in this fifth book of the Throne of Glass series. The long path to the throne has only just begun for Aelin Galathynius as war looms on the horizon. Loyalties have been broken and bought, friends have been lost and gained, and those who possess magic find themselves increasingly at odds with those who don’t. With her heart sworn to the warrior-prince by her side and her fealty pledged to the people she is determined to save, Aelin will delve into the depths of her power to protect those she loves. But as monsters emerge from the horrors of the past, dark forces stand poised to claim her world. The only chance for salvation lies in a desperate quest that may take more from Aelin than she has to give, a quest that forces her to choose what and who she’s willing to sacrifice for the sake of peace.
WOW! This story kept me gripped from beginning to end. Just when I though I had everything figured out it changed again. Brilliance. Sheer, pure brilliance. This is what this book is. Everything I wanted and everything I didn’t know I wanted. It’s a whirlwind of emotions. Quite probably, the best in the series so far! I am pretty deep into the Throne of Glass series so writing reviews for it are getting harder and harder. It’s getting harder to talk about events going on and where the characters stand without spoiling anything I am glad that I get to read these books in order right away rather than having to wait. This books brought so many of the characters together that we met so long ago that I had to make a list of who everyone was. In the end, I was getting literal chills. She writes so impressively that she can take my breath away.
I gave this a huge five star-rating! These characters are becoming to have a place in my heart now. I think the sheer scope of the world Maas has created and the investment required of a reader to go on a journey of 650-odd pages at a time, over so many volumes, means that the world she creates and the people in it really do get under your skin, with their developments and how you imagine them to be. I can not wait to see how it is all going to end!
Damn… fantastic review. I really need to continue reading this series!
Thank you! And yes! You MUST continue. It will be worth every page!
This was for SURE a 5 star read. I did the tandem read and read Tower of Dawn at the same time…..I TOTALLY recommend doing it that way! I know it’s like reading a 1000 page book, but it is SOOO worth it! This book was so great and gave me so much anxiety and so many emotions. I need to get to the last book now!
