Popular jewelry influencer Chloe Hallman is steeling herself to spend another holiday on her own. Instead, she finds herself drawn to two different guys… a smoldering hot fan of her secret, seductive online persona, and a sexy fireman named Jack who looks out for her in their NYC neighborhood. Jack was the first responder to the accident that stole a beautiful young woman’s family two Christmases ago, and he’s been quietly guarding her ever since. When Jack uncovers Chloe’s secret account, his obsession only grows. Both he and Chloe are drawn to the darkness that mirrors their own. Will Chloe’s Christmas be a tale of fiery passion…or a dangerous game with a man whose love knows no bounds?

This was a little weird concept for me, but pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed it. The storyline was lame, but the characters were endearing which really made me like this one. It starts out as such a slow burn and with bubbly and kind characters. But the farther we go the darker it gets. And I just love how perfectly well Alta made those two elements intertwine. It’s about how far can you go? And how far are you willing to forgive a partner? And once they get touchy feely… oh this book is so hot!! I love their desires and I love how electric the both of them are together. The pacing was excellent for most of the book, and the tension between the main characters was palpable in the best way. Henley walks the fine line of making the stalker element intense without tipping into completely irredeemable territory, which is no small feat. It’s gritty, unsettling, and unexpectedly tender at times—a wild ride for sure!

Four stars for this novel. I really enjoyed this smutty and surprisingly twisty read. Both characters were perfect for each other, and I loved both the story development and the romance. My only gripe is the ending. While it tied things up well and felt complete, it was definitely rushed. I would have loved a bit more time to fully absorb the resolution and see the characters settle into their new dynamic. Overall, if you’re into dark romance and looking for something unique with an edge, this is one for you.
