“She was the heir of ash and fire, and she would bow to no one.”
“She was Aelin Ashryver Galathynius—and she would not be afraid.”
This is the third installment in the Throne of Glass series. Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak, all at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life, and her future, forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons, but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?
This is a journey of grief, of pain, of love, of friendship, and of finding your way back up to the surface after being buried deep inside a bottomless pit. Celaena has been through a lot, and it hurts knowing that this is only just the beginning of more pain and suffering. Overall, I’m really happy with the direction this series has taken. This book is a lot more than just a romance that happens to have a magical setting. It’s an epic fantasy. There was a lot more characters introduced in this novel and a lot more forces were coming together.
The gave this book a four-star rating. If it wasn’t for the slow pacing around the middle of the book, I would have given this one five stars because the ending was badass. I thought all the battle scenes were very well written, and I enjoyed Celaena’s flashbacks and learning more of her backstory. I had been wanting that for a while. The climax with Dorian, Chaol, Aedion, the king, and Sorscha was really heartbreaking. Everyone’s story ended on these amazing cliff hangers and I’m so glad I don’t have to wait around for the next book to see what happens next. I can just dive right in!
