This novel follows Anastasia Allen and Nathaniel Hawkins. Anastasia has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. A competitive figure skater since she was five years old, a full college scholarship thanks to her place on the Maple Hills skating team, and a schedule that would make even the most driven person weep, she comes to win. No exceptions. Nathan has never had a problem he couldn’t solve. As captain of the Maple Hills Titans, he knows the responsibility of keeping the hockey team on the ice rests on his shoulders. When a misunderstanding results in the two teams sharing a rink, and Anastasia’s partner gets hurt in the aftermath, Nate finds himself swapping his stick for tights, and one scary coach for an even scarier one. The pair find themselves stuck together in more ways than one, but it’s fine, because Anastasia doesn’t even like hockey players…right?
I was excited to read this book because I LOVE hockey. Unfortuneately, it hardly comes up in this book. I struggled with this book. It is really hard for me to describe the plot, because essentially, there is no plot. This book is essentially just them live, laugh, loving all day. I did fall in love with Nate though. He has such a fluffy personality. I loved how he always supported Anastasia and how he is always ready to help her no matter what. Nate has such a sweet and a caring personality. I loved how he never forced the exclusivity on Anastasia because he knew she is afraid of commitments. He is the definition of love! As much as I love Nate Hawkins I can’t say that for Anastasia. Her character feels off to me sometimes. It was hard for me to connect with her. She just seemed all over the place. She would be a strong and a passionate woman who knows what she wants and then the next chapter she would be insecure and then have an eating disorder. It didn’t make much sense to me.
I gave this book a three-star rating. If you are wanting a smut book with no character development or storyline, then this book is for you. I however, didn’t handle it well because I did not think the characters were written very well. I found myself re-reading paragraphs because I was not able to follow along with the changes and the dialogue.
