This is a Hazelwood romance but with some trigger warnings in the front. I would says I was not offended by ANYTHING in this book. There were some eating disorder issues that were mentioned and this is an open door romance. Other than that, I can’t see this being too hard to read. I really enjoyed this one.

Rue Siebert is a biotech engineer who has a few close friends but she mostly keeps to herself. She works for a successful start up company called Kline with one of her closest friends. Her boss is also her friend. But then the company is in fear of being taken over.

This is where we meet Eli Killgore. He and his partners come to Kline with the intention to take it over. He normally goes to work and is successful at making things happen. The only obstacle is Rue. She is no nonsense and hard to stop looking at. He tells himself that she is “hands off’ and that he has to remain focused. Buuut…what kind of romance would this be if that happened?!?!?

Over the course of this book, secrets are revealed and these two must decide if they can overcome all that they have learned. I can’t get into what is found out and spoil anything, but this one has lots of heavy topics and emotions.

This was a good book. It was a little different from a normal Hazelwood book and I enjoyed that. It still included her typical STEM storyline but included some heavier, intense topics. I did guess who the real villain of the story was pretty quickly, but I still enjoyed the ride. Hazelwood is definitely queen of the STEM romance genre and I will continue recommending these!
