Wilson’s books are a bit odd, but this one is a bit trippy, wild, and definitely unique. I don’t know how else to describe this one.

Now Is Not The Time To Panic starts off with 16 year old Frankie Budge, who is a bit of a loner, trying to make it through a boring summer in her town of Coalfield, TN. She has been working on a book, so she is a creative type. Then she meets Zeke, another loner, who is in town with his mom for the summer and staying at his grandmother’s house. They are both odd teens looking for something to do in a small town. Zeke is an artist. So they combine their talents & create a poster. On it is the infamous phrase that creates a panic in Coalfield.
The edge is a shantytown filled with gold seekers. We are fugitives, and the law is skinny with hunger for us.
Frankie & Zeke place these posters all over town. The town wonders if it’s a cult, crazy kids, or drugs. Speculations fly & no one knows the truth but Frankie & Zeke.
Twenty years later, a journalist uncovers information about
“The Panic” & Frankie has to answer some questions. Will the truth finally be revealed?
This book was 4 stars for me. I kept reading to find out IF or HOW the secret would get out. The ending wasn’t what I was expecting. Definitely a thought-provoking book on how decisions we make in our adolescent years can affect the rest of our lives! Wilson is a master at these unique types of books. If you read, Nothing To See Here, you will know what to expect and also enjoy this book.
