“For the life of me, I can’t remember a better activity than staying at home in my pj’s and hanging out with my roommate.”
This novella follow an an environmental engineer, Mara. Mara knows all about the delicate nature of ecosystems. They require balance. And leaving the thermostat alone. And not stealing someone else’s food. And other rules Liam, her detestable big-oil lawyer of a roommate, knows nothing about. Okay, sure, technically she’s the interloper. Liam was already entrenched in his aunt’s house like some glowering grumpy giant when Mara moved in, with his big muscles and kissable mouth just sitting there on the couch tempting respectable scientists to the dark side…but Helena was her mentor and Mara’s not about to move out and give up her inheritance without a fight. The problem is, living with someone means getting to know them. And the more Mara finds out about Liam, the harder it is to loathe him…and the easier it is to love him.
This was a quick, short, fun read that satisfied all my romance needs. With little over 100 pages, it gets a little hard to go into too much detail about the characters and their growth but as a whole, I really enjoyed this one. What I liked most about this was actually the sex scenes. Men have their insecurities too, and sometimes romance novels can minimize that. It’s good to be reminded that not all men are the tall, dark and handsome sex gods romance authors have been making them out to be. The way Liam was so insecure was endearing.
I gave this a 3.5 star-rating. This was cute and quick, but I felt like there were a few plot lines I wanted more information on. The ending felt abrupt – the epilogue was like a paragraph long, and I wish it would have been longer! I would have wanted this to be more of a novel than a novella.
