MEMORIES CAN BE DISTORTED AND SO CAN THE TRUTH.

All The Dangerous Things by Stacy Willingham was a slow burn with unreliable characters. I loved the moody atmosphere and the tension that continually built throughout until the very end. I was so close to creating a board like Isabelle’s to guess who the bad guy was, but the red herrings kept me in the dark!

Isabelle Drake has gone one year without a full night’s sleep. Her son, Mason, was taken from his crib in the middle of the night while she and her husband were asleep in their room. The police have spent the year searching for clues, but have come up empty. To make matters worse, Ben has walked out on Isabelle and ended their marriage.

This is narrated by Isabelle, who rarely sleeps, so she is highly unreliable at best. She has memory issues. She keeps flashing back to childhood memories. She realizes she has to confront her childhood issues if she is going to be able to help solve Mason’s case.

Sometimes, the mind is just stronger than our attempts to override it.

This one definitely started out slower, but once it got going, I was hooked. I didn’t know who was telling the truth, or if certain people even knew what the truth was. It was such a thrill ride! And the twists had me flipping pages like crazy! I love a book when I can say, “I didn’t see that coming.” I liked how it all came together in the end. If you like a slow burn thriller, this is definitely one you want to read!
