“You just seem . . . I don’t know. Extremely emotionally unavailable.” I think maybe he was right, because it’s barely been a year and I can’t quite recall his face.”

This novella follows Hannah. Not only has the NASA aerospace engineer found herself injured and stranded at a remote Arctic research station—but the one person willing to undertake the hazardous rescue mission is her longtime rival, Ian. Ian has been many things to Hannah: the villain who tried to veto her expedition and ruin her career, the man who stars in her most deliciously lurid dreams…but he’s never played the hero. So why is he risking everything to be here? And why does his presence seem just as dangerous to her heart as the coming snowstorm?

Out of all three of Ali Hazelwood’s novellas, this was the one I liked the least. Not that it was bad, just wasn’t as promising as the last two. Basically if you have read one of the novellas then you have read all of them because it is tiny nerdy girl meets big sexy perfect guy who she falls for from first look, then they have a misunderstanding, an attempt of her hating him and then falling head over heels for each other and have sex and that’s it. I think it was my least favorite because the main character was so devoid of emotional connections, which I can not relate to. She makes it very clear that she does not date and is just into casual hook-ups.

I gave this novella a three star-rating. I liked it. However, I didn’t ever feel super attached to characters. This may be due to the length of the story, but there are also time jumps that took up a majority of the story, and I found them necessary but annoying. The story would have been better if it was told chronologically and focused more on the present.
