A chance romantic encounter during a wild night at a Mardi Gras bachelorette party sends strait-laced Serena Khan’s carefully constructed life into chaos.

Love Buzz by Neely Tubati Alexander is a quick read about love, grief, family, and the road not taken. This has a cute romance story and is a fun women’s fiction to breeze through.

Serena Khan is the type of girl who needs security, or thought she did. Ever since her mother passed away, she has conversations with her mother in her head. She strives to meet some standard she imagines her mother has for her. She gets her Accounting degree, stays with the safe boyfriend choice, and has a good paying job.

Then comes the bachelorette trip to New Orleans, where she has a chance encounter with Julian. In a split second, she is knocked of her feet and has feelings she has never felt before. They spend a small amount of time together and hit it off. He has green eyes and Hawaiian punch lips she can’t stop dreaming about. She starts to think Julian could be her soulmate.

Then she gets back home and gets back to “real life” and realizes she may need to make some changes. Her “safe” boyfriend is more like a best friend than the love of her life. Her job isn’t something she is excited about. Will one night upend her whole life? Will she ever see Julian again?

This was a cute romance. I thought some parts were a little cheesy. I did like the theme of the road not taken and to choose happiness. I like when anyone can change their unhappy situation and follow your dreams. I did hope for a few more steamy scenes, especially given that this was a “love at first site” type of story. It seems like there should have been a tiny more lust in this one than what there was. But I would also feel comfortable telling my mother about this book. The title being from a Nirvana song is a fun fact that made me smile. I want to thank Harper Collins Publishers for the ARC and the Neely Tubati Alexander for the enjoyment Love Buzz.
