“I don’t want to be someone’s second choice.”

Sydney is living in an idyllic bubble—she’s a dedicated student with a steady job on the side. She lives with her best friend, has a great boyfriend, and the music coming from the balcony opposite hers is fast becoming the soundtrack to her life. But when Sydney finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her, the bubble bursts. The mysterious and attractive man behind the music, Ridge, gives Sydney hope that she can move on and they begin to write songs together. But moving on is harder than she expects, Sydney can only hope….

There is no doubt that Colleen Hoover can write any amazing novel. She really knows how to write books that I get quickly absorbed in and can’t read fast enough. I couldn’t put it down while at the same time wanting to pull the two main characters aside and give them a serious talking to. She really knows how to make to have such a love/hate relationship with her characters. I completely understand why some people had issues with this book. Ridge is one of the most selfish characters I have ever read about, but yet you keep cheering for him and falling for him as much as Sydney is. I mean, I should hate him! BUT I CAN’T! SPOILER!!! This book is about cheating!  I hate people who cheat. I hate it. If you do not love someone anymore, break up or divorce. It is not the end of the world.

I wanted to give this novel a 3.5-star rating just because I did not fully agree with what this book was about, but I bumped it up to 4 because I ended up fully engaged and enjoyed this book. I do plan to continue on with the other two books of this series.
