This one was for book club and I wasn’t sure if I would like it or not. The more I thought about it, the more I liked this one. The characters are interesting. And the premise grabbed me right away.

Code Name Verity tells the tale of two young women amidst the backdrop of WWII: one English and the other Scottish. They forge a deep friendship through their joint service in the military from 1940 to 1943. However, their lives take a drastic turn when one of them is captured by the Gestapo, setting off a chain of tumultuous events. The narrative unfolds in two parts, each from the perspective of one of the girls, resembling entries in a diary. Brace yourself for intricate accounts of aerial maneuvers, military strategies, and the emotional rollercoaster that may leave you shedding tears and gasping in astonishment.

This one made for some great book club conversation. The characters are complex. The plot was a little slow at times, but when things start happening, they move.
