“It stops here. With me and you. It ends with us.”

“All humans make mistakes. What determines a person’s character aren’t the mistakes we make. It’s how we take those mistakes and turn them into lessons rather than excuses.”

The story follows Lily and Ryle. Lily graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. But when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life suddenly seems almost too good to be true. Ryle is assertive, stubborn, maybe even a little arrogant, and Ryle’s complete aversion to relationships is disturbing. Even as Lily finds herself becoming the exception to his “no dating” rule, she can’t help but wonder what made him that way in the first place. As questions about her new relationship overwhelm her, so do thoughts of Atlas Corrigan – her first love and a link to the past she left behind. He was her kindred spirit, her protector. When Atlas suddenly reappears, everything Lily has built with Ryle is threatened.

This story is absolutely moving, it makes you think about things that can be uncomfortable and out of place, but it also fills you with happiness and sorrow. It Ends With Us showed the realness behind a world that many see and do not speak of. When reading this book, there were moments I could not put it down but there were also moments where I felt like throwing it across the room. Colleen Hoover really wrote the book in a way that I felt so connected, she truly has a way with her words.

I almost gave this book a five star-rating but went with a 4.5 star-rating due to the fact that during some moments, I wanted to scream at the characters for the choices they were making. If you want a book that challenges your views on love and opens your eyes to what it’s like for some people in abusive relationships, then pick this book up, just have some tissues on standby.
