“So much has happened since then. I’ve changed as a person in more ways than one. That happens when you’re forced to take another person’s life.”

This novel follows Leeds Gabriel. When Leeds meets Layla, he knew immediately that she’s the one. But soon into their relationship, Layla is attacked, leaving her with mental and physical scars. Leeds whisks her away to the place where they first met, in the hopes that that will bring them closer together. But soon, odd things start to happen. In trying to get to the bottom of it, Leeds grows close to Willow, a mysterious woman, and soon he’s confused about where his loyalties really lie.

When I first started reading this book, I figured it was Hoover’s typical, traumatic love story, but had no clue that it involved the supernatural. At first it was creeping me out and I was guessing I was not going to like this book, but it then proceeded to blow my mind. It’s like nothing else, so different from her other books, yet it’s captivating. This was a book that I easily read under two days. You know you read a great book when you hate the character so much at first only to turn around and love them in the end.

I gave this book a four-star rating. If I would have rated this book when I was only half way through, I would have only given it 2.5 stars, but the closer you got to the end, the more it really sucked me in. I went into this book not knowing it was a paranormal romance and I think that was what I disliked about it at first. It seemed so out of the ordinary for Hoover to do that I had trouble getting around it. Once that was aside, the story was great!
