I re-read this one so that I could read the 2nd book and I remembered why I like Leigh Bardugo so much! This is an academic fantasy you could get lost in.

Alex (Galaxy) Stern gets an offer to go to Yale after being the sole survivor of a multiple homicide. Once at Yale, Alex swiftly delves into an unknown realm of clandestine magic and history, previously unimaginable to her. She’s tasked with monitoring Yale’s secret society’s. When her mentor, Darlington, vanishes and a “town” girl is found murdered, Alex assumes the responsibility of delving far beyond her limits into the enigmatic world of magic to unravel the mysteries. Their activities are sinister & she needs to fight to survive this school.

The setting of this is Yale and I was googling some of the places mentioned trying to see if they were real places and to get visuals of where things were taking place. And of course, who doesn’t love a book with a map?!?!

I loved this book. It was full of excitement & great characters. I kept turning the page to see what supernatural thing was going to happen next. This is something fans of the show Supernatural would like. I kept thinking this would make an awesome movie/series! I’m glad I can finally dive into the next book.
