This paranormal thriller was my introduction to Rachel Harrison’s work, and now I can’t wait to dive into her backlist. So Thirsty felt like a blend of horror, thriller, and feminist girl power—with vampires! It officially marks the beginning of my vampire era.

The story centers on two best friends, Sloane and Naomi, who couldn’t be more different. Naomi is the wild one, with a rockstar boyfriend and a party lifestyle, though she’s financially tied to him. Sloane, on the other hand, is stuck in a routine—married to a cheating husband and stuck in a mediocre job.

When Sloane’s husband arranges a trip for her and Naomi to spend some time together, Naomi is thrilled. She flies in from one of her globe-trotting adventures, while Sloane, though anxious, hopes a girls’ getaway might be exactly what she needs.

But when they arrive at the resort, things quickly take a turn. Naomi pulls Sloane into an unexpected night out, leading them to a mansion with people who seem out of place. The crowd is more wild than Sloane is comfortable with (think sex, drugs, and mystery), so she retreats and ends up chatting with a man named Henry. Their conversation grows intimate, but when Sloane starts questioning Henry about the mansion and its strange occupants, things spiral out of control. Something dangerous is unleashed, and their night quickly descends into a nightmare.

From that moment on, everything changes for Sloane and Naomi. They’re left to wonder if this is a fresh start or a curse—and how they’ll handle their new thirst.

I devoured this book. It was dark and mysterious, but in all the best ways. The fast pace kept me hooked from start to finish. I’m all in on vampires this season, and the feminist undertones added an empowering touch. I can’t wait to see what Rachel Harrison has in store next!
