Jack Sinclair is the CEO of a multibillion-dollar company who is in desperate need of a new assistant. No one has seemed to be able to meet his expectations. But when Presley walks through the door for the assistant position and surprises him, he knows he’s in trouble. Especially with the way he is immediately drawn to her. Presley Stafford loves spending time with her family for Christmas and completing her Holiday Wishlist. But it hasn’t been easy doing that when her boss, Jack, has kept her busy for the past three years. But this year, nothing will stop her from going home for the holidays. Not even when Jack insists on joining her in order to close a massive deal for work. The only problem? Her family can’t know he’s her boss and Jack has just introduced himself as her boyfriend. Now they have to share her childhood bedroom and pretend to actually like each other. But that all seems to fade away one night when they find themselves under the mistletoe.

This was a quick read, with characters you either love or hate. I wish there was more depth but this is a true novella. The relationship escalated quickly, and it gets to the spice at a relatively quick time. I mean it’s 0 to 100 in 1 paragraph. I felt very meh about their relationship. Overall, the author’s writing was decent and I’m looking forward to the next book. I think it may be better since it’s full-length, because the novella style wasn’t a great way to truly see the author’s strengths as a writer.

I gave this novella three stars. I like to read novellas, but I think the key is to know what story you want to tell in the amount of pages you have to do it. If you try to cover too much, the result is not good, and that is what I think happened in this case. What struck me the most is that there are too many spicy scenes that are told so quickly that didn’t provoke anything… sometimes less is more.
