Something About September is a sweet, cozy romance that delivers all the small-town charm and autumn vibes you could want. When Rebecca returns home to renovate her late grandmother’s diner, she’s forced to work with Cort Adams—the man who broke her heart and the high school crush she never truly got over.
This second-chance romance leans heavily on the miscommunication trope, which isn’t always my favorite. However, the cozy atmosphere and nostalgic fall setting helped make up for some of my frustrations. Julia McKay does a wonderful job capturing the feeling of September—the crisp mornings, changing leaves, and sense of possibility that comes with a new season. Reading this had me longing for fall, even though I’m not quite ready for summer to end.
The romance is heartfelt, and I enjoyed the small-town feel and the happily-ever-after ending. While the story didn’t completely win me over, it was still an enjoyable seasonal read that would pair perfectly with a pumpkin spice latte and a cozy blanket.
