This was a fast paced thriller about hope, loss, & the secrets in marriage. It was tense but also sad at times. A content warning: this one talks about IVF, miscarriage, & pregnancy issues. It doesn’t go into too much detail but miscarriage and loss is a theme in this book. I highly enjoyed this and was on the edge of my seat by the end. To be honest, I sat in my parked car in the garage to finish this one.

Olivia and Park have tried to have children but Olivia has had multiple miscarriages. She deals with this by working hard. She designs home interiors and tries to fulfil her clients needs even though her deepest need, being a mother, can’t be fulfilled. One morning, detectives come to their house and tell them Park’s son has been linked to a murdered woman. This is the local woman whom Oliva had known and was acquainted with. But the other odd thing was that Oliva and Park don’t have any children.

Park comes clean and tells her about a sperm donation. But, little did they know the ramifications that donation had. Park’s son is a murderer and his siblings have formed an online support group whom all suspect the murderer could be one of them.

In the meantime, Park’s twin brother, Perry, comes home and reminisces about his feelings for Olivia. They briefly dated in high school, before college and they still have feelings for each other. Olivia has a secret that she needed to get off her chest with Perry.

This book kept me on the edge of my seat with a tense feel throughout the book. The DNA aspect was a great twist. The themes of loss, miscarriage, dark secrets, and family were done so crafty! The characters were well written that you felt bad for some of them and disliked others. If your looking for a fast paced suspenseful thriller done in typical JT Ellison style, this is for you!
